The Markham Gang Jazztet has been entertaining local audiences for over six years. They create a blend of modern and traditional jazz themes which appeal to both avid jazz fans and casual listeners.

With a core sound reminiscent of the cool jazz era, the group adds a mixture of unusual time signatures and chord changes, creating a variety of surprising twists and turns to well known standards. One only needs to watch and listen for a few minutes to realize that not only are these guys very comfortable creating great music together, they are having tons of fun as well.

The Gang is led by Saxophonist Douglas Pipher, who's use of nearly the entire range of saxophones provides a wide diversity of tone and mood, and features Leon Racine on piano and George Taylor on bass.

Mr. Taylor plays only the finest Alleva Coppolo Bass guitars, except when he's playing his beloved Rob Allen. Mr. Racine prefers his vintage 80s ghetto keyboard, and Mr. Pipher plays only Yamaha, Selmer or King instruments, unless he's playing something else.
